Chi Rei Kai Karate

My name is Billy Tucker, I’m 19 years old, and I’ve been studying Shotokan Karate about 8 years now. I earned my Shodan (1st Degree black belt) at the age of 13, became a Nidan (2nd Degree Black belt) Karate-ka at age 16, and I recently tested for the grade of Sandan (3rd Degree Black Belt) under Don Owens 9th Dan, Ash Hawkes 6th Dan and Jay Hawkes 4th Dan. It was hard but I’m very pleased to have passed. This year I’m going off to University and I’ll be opening my own Dojo in Falmouth, Cornwall.

My favourite aspect of Shotokan Karate is learning and performing Kata, my favourite being ‘Gankaku’ which I am currently studying. I showed my knowledge of this Kata for my Sandan grading, it was quite an experience.
